Gladioli bulbs should be planted in the spring after the danger of frost has passed. For a prolonged flowering season, consider planting the bulbs in intervals of two weeks from late March to early June. Choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil for optimal growth. Gladioli typically bloom about 10-12 weeks after planting, providing spectacular floral displays from mid-summer to early autumn.

1. Soil Preparation: Before planting, work organic matter into the soil to ensure it’s rich and well-draining.
2. Planting Depth and Spacing: Plant gladioli corms about 10-15 cm deep and space them 15 cm apart. Plant in groups for a fuller, more natural look.
3. Support: Gladioli stems can grow tall and may require staking to prevent them from flopping over, especially in windy areas.
4. Watering: Water regularly during the growing season, ensuring the soil remains moist but not soggy.
5. Feeding: Apply a balanced fertiliser every few weeks to encourage strong growth and vibrant blooms.
6. Cut Flowers: Gladioli make excellent cut flowers. Harvest stems when the first few florets are open, and the rest will continue to bloom in a vase.
